Next August, the National Urban League is coming to Houston Texas to host their annual conference and have a discussion on the state of our affairs in America. The timing could not be better. We have a tremendous city of opportunity and energy we can’t wait for our visitors to experience! Downtown has been revitalized and many will experience the great venues we have and will likely visit us time and again. In addition to the fun and excitement of national speakers, influencers, celebrities and entertainment, it will be a time for real talk. It will be at the peak time to decide on our next President and the direction of our country will be a front and center topic, right here in Houston. We will also discuss the Census while fighting to ensure people are registered to vote. We will delve into the importance of community activation of tools like the Census that create the avenues to ensure fair and capable representation in government services and elected Representation.

It is time for a real discussion that explores how unemployment can be at record lows, while the uninsured rate continues to grow. We will address the expanding economy while looking into the reasons for record poverty in the nation. We will have thought leaders and innovators at the table to better understand what can be done to insure millennials can find affordable housing and relief from the burden of student loan debt. We must stem the tide of wealth inequality and execute strategies to shrink the gap between rich and poor in America. We must come together people for this important talk.

We are excited to hosts the largest, most important civil rights conference of the year in Houston next August 5th thru the 8th at the George R. Brown Convention Center in the year 2020. We will host more than 20,000 professionals, entrepreneurs, educators, and community builders from across the country and we hope you will be there to give input and gain knowledge to better prepare you and your families for the future. We will comprehensively explore the issues that challenge Americans – from jobs to health to education, by bringing together thought leaders and influencers from around the globe to discuss strategies to combat inequality and proven strategies for community empowerment.

Today, National Urban League President Marc Morial, Mayor Sylvester Turner and I proudly announced the decision has been made to come to our city. The anticipated 20,000 attendees represent every region of the United States, including the host city and surrounding regions. Corporate executives, entrepreneurs, thought leaders, urban professionals and the global lens of the media will be engaged in Houston Texas. I encourage you to be a part of this spectacular event and be a part of the fun and the serious discussions regarding the future of our communities. To learn more visit
