Workforce Development Programs The primary goal of the Workforce Development Department is to develop the climate, resources and skills to support full participation in the free enterprise system for African-Americans and other minorities. It offers professional services at no fee to employers and applicants seeking employment:
Workforce Development Services are aimed at the the unemployed and the underemployed: The Workforce Development Department of the Houston Area Urban League works continually to provide training and guidance for individuals to participate fully in the socio-economic system of Houston. It works in conjunction with training efforts and opportunities fostered by the Economic Development Department to empower individuals in a successful job search or career change. Ongoing workshops and training sessions are held to help individuals master the skills it takes to become gainfully employed through our Employment Orientation (held Wednesdays at 9 a.m.) Job Club (held Fridays at 9 a.m.), and Community Technology Center training. Skills presented include:
