Delivering services so every person, regardless of race or income, has an opportunity to achieve optimal health and wellbeing.

The Houston Area Urban League’s Health and Wellness program aims to increase access to quality healthcare, improve chronic disease management and prevention, and increase access to nutritious foods for under-represented and under-served populations in the greater Houston area through education, awareness and advocacy, health insurance enrollment, faith-based partnerships, and community engagement. 

Transforming community health in Houston so that every person has an opportunity to achieve optimal health and wellbeing.

 

SERVICES

  • INSURANCE ENROLLMENT ASSISTANCE: Medicaid, CHIP, CHIP Perinatal, Marketplace, etc. these are universal/national whereas Texas Benefits are specific to Texas and does not include marketplace insurance plans 
  • SNAP ENROLLMENT ASSISTANCE:  Access to nutritious food.   snaplogo
  • HEALTH EDUCATION AND HEALTH LITERACY 
  • PREVENTION & AWARENESS:  Services pertaining to prevention/management of chronic disease and other health issues

Attention Medicaid Recipients:

It's time to renew!

Look out for renewal notices mailed in yellow envelopes that say "Action Required" in red or sent electronically to members who signed up for electronic notices.
Complete and return renewal packets and requests for information on time. Contact Texas Health and Human Services to report any changes (such as contact information, pregnancy or household changes) as soon as possible.
