Responsibilities and Specific Duties
• Manage several small construction projects or one large construction project as the METRO Construction
Program Manager, from start of construction to project completion.
• Manage any assigned assistant project managers or resident engineers to the project(s).
• Manage a team of Site Representatives assigned to the project(s).
• Ensure projects are built correctly (per plan), via ensuring work is being measured as it is being constructed.
• Managing testing and inspection consultants and reviewing their daily reports and invoices.
• Coordinates with design team and public engagement and third-party stakeholders.
• Manage quantity take-offs, estimating construction items, and scope of work documents, as needed.
• Responsible for creating project bid documents, learning project plans, specs, contract, schedule, and payment
application contents.
• Conduct constructability reviews on upcoming project plan sets.
• Prepare pre-construction meeting documents.
• Lead various project meetings during the construction phase.
• Ensure project sites are safe.
• Ensure the project(s) is built on time and make sure the project schedule is submitted monthly, review it, and
approve it prior to payment application processing, alert Director of Construction for potential issues and
solutions.
• Ensure payment application(s) is submitted monthly, by the 5th of the month, and is correct.
• Assist in FTA reporting, weekly METRO project(s) updates, and coordinating with other METRO departments as
needed.
• Initiate project filing structure and configure ATSER/PMIS/or other software for the project.
• Create and/or review RFI’s, submittals, issue logs, change orders/PCO logs, project contact lists, and ensure they
are upkept, and close out open items asap.
• Assist Senior Program Manager and/or Director of Construction with additional tasks as assigned.
• Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
• Applies SMS methods and principles in their daily routine and supports all aspects of the agency’s Public
Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP)
• Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
College degree in engineering or construction management required. Texas Professional Engineering (PE)
License preferred, but not required
Years & Experience Required
Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in construction management or design, construction experience required.
Experience managing large projects/programs ($100M+) and/or several smaller projects at one time is required.
Knowledge of working in the public sector preferred, but not required. A minimum of 5 years of experience must
have been managing heavy civil (roads, bridges, light rail, utilities, etc.) and or vertical building construction
projects
Knowledge & Skills Required
Will be required to work on a construction site. Texas Drivers’ License required. Proficient in the use of PCs and
related applications/software; Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required. Excellent verbal and written
communications skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Knowledge of /construction practices, processes and terminology required. Knowledge of FTA Regulations and
Guidelines a plus.
