International Cooling Tower, Inc. (ICT)
Responsibilities
- Installs mechanical equipment including: motors, fans, gear boxes and fan shafts with knowledge of proper alignment
- Oversees and accounts for CTT2 and CTT3 tasks that are assisting them
- Reads blue prints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, dimensions of the structure or fixture; liase with Foreman to plan tasks
- Select lumber, hardware and other materials to be used on the assigned job
- Prepares layout, using rulers, tape measures, framing square and calipers.
- Marks, cuts and assemblies lines on materials using pencil, chalk, and marking gage
- Shapes materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels, and chainsaws
- Assembles cut and shaped materials
- Performs piping installation
- Erects framework
- Fits and installs cooling tower material as needed
- Assists with daily and weekly Safety meetings
- Performs additional tasks as assigned by Superintendent, Field and Area Managers and Foreman
Qualifications
- Ability to work within precise limits and/or standards of accuracy
- Ability to apply basic mathematics to solve problems
- Ability to general problem solve including employee relations
- Ability to select and use tools properly
- Ability to compare and accurately determine differences in sizes, shapes and forms of objects
- Ability to read tape measures
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to work at a productive pace and follow instructions
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision,and to demonstrate initiative after the completion of your tasks
- Ability to listen well, follow instructions, and make sure that directives are completed
Education and Experience
- High school diploma, or GED equivalent
- 1-3 years in field cooling tower construction
- 1 year (minimum) Cooling Tower Technician 2 in cooling tower construction
- Must pass level 1 DISA background
- Must pass drug & hair follicle
- Prefer TWIC card – https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic
Certifications, Skills and Abilities
- Must have a Valid Drivers License, and reliable transportation
- Must be dependable and punctual
- Must have steel toe boots
- Rigging, forklift, and man lift certification (preferred)
- Ability to lead small crews to complete job tasks
- Basic knowledge of structural, mechanical and piping installation
- Basic knowledge of the operation of construction tools and terminology
- Knowledge and application of safety standards through OSHA training and experience (preferred, but will train)
- Ability to pass Safety Council training in English
- Ability to pass Confined Space training in English
- Basic knowledge of construction safety guidelines (OSHA 10 preferred)
- Work at heights of 60 feet
- Working hours range from 40-70, no set hours. Must be flexible to work Sat or Sun, depending on project
- PROJECT LENGTH: Projects last 3-6 weeks, so you’re a traveling from one plant project to another.
- WORKING CONDITIONS: You are working outdoors in ALL weather conditions in the refinery, chemical and power plants, in cooling towers. Sometimes you will get wet working inside cooling towers.
- JOB LOCATION: This is a road warrior job, traveling throughout the Houston area, TX and LA from plant to plant, sometimes longer.
- Per diem pay (must have utility bill with your name and address that matches your Driver License)
