This position is grant-funded through June 2025 and subject to renewal.
OVERVIEW:
As a collaborative member of the Mission and Strategy Team, the Program Manager of Financial Stability will oversee the workforce development. The Program Manager will cultivate relationships with individuals, public and private sector community institutions and nonprofit organizations in order to identify community needs, develop approaches to meeting needs, and ensure successful implementation of United Way’s mission in the community. Additionally, the Program Manager will assist in the development and implementation of new initiatives; identify effective program investments and analyze results of programming; monitor investment portfolio for performance; and provide technical assistance to collaborative partners to ensure ability to meet various benchmarks and service delivery targets.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides leadership in building initiative network. Implements collaboration best practices to improve the functioning and impact of financial stability initiative work. Maintains and builds current financial stability initiatives. Working with team, makes recommendations for new community partnerships and initiatives. Troubleshoots challenges with partners and ensures established goals and outcomes are met. Working with team, plans for collaborative partner meetings, funding processes (when appropriate), and other projects, including developing calendars, applications, and other tools. Identifies and executes opportunities to promote enhanced collaboration among initiative partners in financial stability.
- Maintains relationships with community and initiative partners to advance United Way’s mission. Builds and maintains relationships with individuals, public and private sector community institutions and nonprofit organizations in order to identify community needs related to financial stability; develops approaches to meeting needs, and ensures successful implementation of United Way’s mission in the community. Establishes and builds relationships with expert community stakeholders to determine the best practices for achieving highest impact results; identifies effective program investments and analyzes results of programming. Identifies and supports linkages across all work within Mission and Strategy.
- Serves as subject matter expert in initiative field: Develops and maintains current information on financial stability needs of community as well as best practices to address needs. Develops in-depth understanding of community resources through research, involvement in community planning and advocacy groups and other activities. Uses knowledge to make recommendations about funding priorities, new activities, and direction. Participates in community collaborations, partnerships, and national and state organizations involved in community impact work, identifying appropriate roles for United Way. Conducts regular surveys of the national best practices and determines likelihood of successful implementation in greater Houston region. Develops expertise of initiative partners by planning trainings, sharing information, and other activities.
- Provides cross-functional collaboration for planning and implementation within Mission and Strategy and other departments: Working collaboratively, utilizes data provided to review current implementation plans and make appropriate recommendations for needed improvements across all areas of Mission and Strategy that will advance our goals for ensuring all members of our community have the opportunity to thrive. At times, leads various planning and development efforts within Mission and Strategy.
Qualifications

Education
Required
Bachelors or better in Human Services or related field.
Experience
Required
3-5 years:
Proven experience in workforce development and community engagement, specifically in the area of financial stability preferred. Must have experience developing and maintaining relationships with key community stakeholders and launching new community initiatives. Working knowledge of the Greater Houston community, government and non-profit sectors required. Excellent communication, public speaking, cross-departmental collaboration, project management and program evaluation skills required.
