Description Job Summary: (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned):

This role supports the foundational plant telemetry systems for meters and RTUs necessary for core business functionality and integrate with core business processes. This includes support of required plant telemetry for both internal and external entities and systems.

This role also supports regulatory required plant data and ensures its high availability. This role requires understanding the different markets Calpine operates in including required performance criteria, certifications, and interruption event notification procedures.

Individual would need to know how to program in Modbus or DNP3 and be able to learn other industry protocols to support telemetry operations. Familiarity with industry SCADA systems or Distributed Controls Systems (DCS) or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) as an integration point for Remote Terminal Units (RTUs).

Metering work requires familiarity electrical meters (Schenider ION preferred). Understanding of single and three phase electricity. Role would require programming meters and performing meter calibrations. Execution of various regulatory and internal Calpine standards is a must in order to maintain compliance and information delivery requisites.

This job requires overnight travel as well as field work travel approximately 10-20% of the time. Perform field work including the installation of new devices, running of cabling both fiber and serial. Support real time troubleshooting and recovery for field devices.

Job Responsibilities:

• Solid, working knowledge.
• Experienced professional with full understanding of job, company and industry practices.
• Performs in fully-functioning capacity, equivalent to a journey level contributor.
• Makes decisions regarding own work, often in ambiguous situations; makes recommendations regarding telemetry engineering discipline.
• Solves operational problems and associated technical issues; modifies existing tools, techniques or processes.
• Works on problems of moderate complexity.
• Uses independent judgment within defined policies and practices. Interprets guidelines, select methods, techniques and analytical approach.
• Little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
• May be designated project or technical lead for an ongoing process or short-term project within own department.

Requirements • High School diploma, or equivalent required
• Bachelor’s degree in degree in Computer, Electronics or Electrical Engineering Technology preferred
5+ years experience with RTUs and meters or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a related field.
