Tonight, attendees gathered at the George R. Brown Convention Center as Marc H. Morial, President and CEO of the National Urban League, honored notable changemakers at the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Gala during the organization’s national conference.

Tonight, attendees gathered at the George R. Brown Convention Center as Marc H. Morial, President and CEO of the National Urban League, honored notable changemakers at the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Gala during the organization’s national conference.

“The gala is a time where we honor change agents who embody the work and mission of the National Urban League,” said Morial. “Our organization has a legacy of empowering communities and changing lives and we are proud to honor those who have dedicated their careers and their lives to doing the very same. ”

 

“The gala celebrates the voices and commitment of those championing the Urban League’s mission to empower Black communities around this nation. The black-tie event is a continuation of the National Urban League’s 4-day conference.


“This year’s honorees include:

  • Will Packer, Record-Breaking Emmy Nominated Producer, Founder & CEO, Will Packer Productions and Will Packer Media
  • Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder & President; National Action Network, MSNBC Talk Show Host PoliticsNation
  • Mayor Sylvester Turner, City of Houston
  • Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, United States House of Representatives, 18th Congressional District of Texas
  • Congressman Al Green, United States House of Representatives, 9th Congressional District of Texas
