he National Urban League is pleased to announce the opening plenary session of the highly anticipated 2023 National Urban League Annual Conference, scheduled for Thursday, July 27. The event will take place at the George R. Brown Convention Center, located on the 2nd Floor, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM.

HOUSTON, TEXAS – The National Urban League is pleased to announce the opening plenary session of the highly anticipated 2023 National Urban League Annual Conference, scheduled for Thursday, July 27. The event will take place at the George R. Brown Convention Center, located on the 2nd Floor, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM.

The opening plenary, titled “State of the Urban League,” will feature esteemed speakers, including Tim Murphy, Chairman of the National Urban League, and Marc H. Morial, President & CEO of the National Urban League. The program will also include entertainment segments to engage and inspire attendees.

Distinguished guests for this event include Judson Robinson III, President & CEO of the Houston Area Urban League, who will deliver remarks. The Honorable Sylvester Turner, Mayor of Houston, TX, will be present to welcome attendees.

The Freedom Fighters Award will be presented to Tennessee State Representative Justin Jones who was one of two Black legislators reelected by their constituents after expulsion from the legislature over their courageous stance against gun violence.

The State of the Urban League Address promises to provide valuable insights and perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing the African American community in America today.
