NATIONAL URBAN LEAGUE HOSTS PREMIERE SCREENING OF GUMBO COALITION DOCUMENTARY

July 26, 2023 In Press Releases

The National Urban League will host a red carpet premiere of the acclaimed documentary feature film, Gumbo Coalition, on Wednesday, July 26, at 6pm at Houston’s Cullen Theater at the Wortham Theater Center.

Documentary features national Civil Rights leaders Marc H. Morial of National Urban League and Janet Murguía of UnidosUS who join forces to lead the modern-day fight for racial justice

HOUSTON, TX – The National Urban League will host a red carpet premiere of the acclaimed documentary feature film, Gumbo Coalition, on Wednesday, July 26, at 6pm at Houston’s Cullen Theater at the Wortham Theater Center.

The documentary follows two visionary Civil Rights leaders, Marc H. Morial, President and CEO of the National Urban League and Janet Murguía, President and CEO of UnidosUS, as they work to empower Black and Latino American communities through four turbulent years in America.

Two-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker Barbara Kopple takes her lens to one of the most monumental issues of our times and makes it deeply personal—and hopeful. Gumbo Coalition is an intimate journey into their lives, homes and the family histories that motivate their mission to achieve a more just and equitable country. At a crossroads in American history, these leaders face some of their biggest challenges: the global pandemic, the murder of George Floyd and the 2020 presidential election and its aftermath.
